Mountaineer

The Richman Cabin was delivered on 27 July 2005 in Buckingham County, Virginia. The Mountaineer floor plan was chosen, with a heavy timber ceiling and loft added. D-logs make up the walls of this log home.

June 30		Site preparation for the foundation.
July 26		Foundation and porch piers up, with brick. A bit of sand added to help cut the red clay.
July 27		Log Delivery in 100º heat! Now THIS is a forklift!
Aug 25		All logs in the house and the third row is being set.
Aug 27		Subfloor in, porch decking, and four courses of logs! Electrical outlets shaved out too. All in a couple days.
Sept 6		Logs nearly finished, window and door jambs in. More work on roughing in electrical.
Sept 16		Log courses are complete and Douglas Fir Heavy Timber rafters are set.
Sept 22		2x6 spruce is nailed to the rafters, porch roof nearly finished too.
Sept 29		Inside from loft, it's a small house, so hard to get a good shot of the interior! This loft has a couple beams that span the open areas. Kitchen will be in far left open corner, bathroom a little closer and bedrooms below.
